Namatjira family for years to come,
Help us finish this documentary.
It’s been six years in development, but the Namatjira documentary is nearing completion. Now is the time for us to call on the friends and supporters of the Namatjira project to help us fund the final stages of the edit process.
Over the 6 years of Big hART’s Namatjira Project, we’ve had a small documentary team working alongside us to capture the pivotal moments of the project, working with the Namatjira family and Hermannsburg communities. Most significantly, this documentary explores intercultural friendship between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, highlighting how integral this is to real reconciliation.
While the theatre show has been seen by 50,000 people, this documentary is the lynchpin in making sure positive exposure gets out to many, many more hundreds of thousands of people, to tell an important story, and garner support for the family, their community and ongoing living heritage.
Once completed, the documentary will be rolled out nationally and internationally, and will also promote the Namatjira Legacy Trust. Together these two things will generate ongoing exposure and tangible support for the Namatjira family and Hermannsburg art movement – tools for them to own and utilise into the future.
