And with just 1 day to go…
The Araluen Centre is buzzing, with preparations for the Celebration of Namatjira in full swing.
Archie Roach and Dave Arden arrived yesterday and did a sound check this morning, including a song with Genevieve Lacey on recorder…sounded fantastic. The Ntaria Singers and Hermannsburg Potters are due to arrive tomorrow morning. Trevor and Derek have been going over selected scenes from the theatrical work-in-progress – tomorrow will be the first time they’re shown to a large scale audience!
The Celebration will be a great opportunity for the cast and creatives to get some audience feedback, before moving into rehearsal mode in Sydney. It should also be a brilliant community event, complete with a free bush BBQ (thanks to Gayle Quarmby and Outback Pride) to warm up the audiences before the show!
If you’re in Alice Springs or nearby make sure you come along – 6PM this Saturday or 2PM this Sunday! See you there!
Trevor runs through a scene, while Robert Hannaford paints Nadya, making sure the lighting is right, in preparation for painting Trevor.
